Lucie Castens Vitanov received her master degree in microtechnologies at EPFL Lausanne in 2007. For her master thesis, she used lock-in thermography to locate shunts in thin film solar cells. She worked 4 years as a process engineer in an industrial research lab (Oerlikon Solar Lab) in Neuchâtel improving thin film “micromorph" solar cells. She also developed the process for a PE-CVD SiOx layer used as an intermediate reflector. After a break, she resumed research 2018 preparing perovskite solar cells at the Adolph Merkle Institute in Fribourg. Lucie joined iPrint in 2019 working on printed solar cells.
