How to work with us?

Do you need specific piece of equipment for your printing project? Do you want to test your printing process on a pilot line?

iPrint offers a measurement lab dedicated to the characterization of inks and substrates relevant to printing processes, a coating lab for first printing tests, pre- and post-treatment labs to treat the substrate or the printed inks, a roll-to-roll pilot line(in addition to the numerous platforms that can be easily reconfigured for your needs), and simulation tools for printing process optimization. Furthermore, iPrint works in close collaboration with its spin-off Droptimize, specialized in drop watching.

Coating lab

To guarantee the best support for printing development projects, iPrint runs a film application laboratory. This professional service is about offering every single customer the individual advice needed to find the best possible solution for applications in thin film coating and printing processes. Our experts providerecommendations on the most suitable method and system setup. With access to state-of-the-art thin film deposition tools such as spin coaters, automatic film applicators, screen-printing and lamination tools, our process specialists have the ability to verify and test process concepts immediately. Pre-treatment of substrates by corona discharge, flame, or atmospheric plasma, as well as curing by air, IR, UV or electron beam can be tested in the coating lab. By identifying potential solutions for wetting, adhesion and material compatibility in early project stages, we can keep our customers a step ahead of the competition.

Measurement lab

iPrint’s measurement lab is equipped with all the devices necessary to characterize the rheology of inks, with a specific focus on the characterization required for the inkjet process. Devices to characterize surface energies and layer thicknesses are available too. A non-exhaustive list of our devices is: Piezo Axial Vibrator for complex viscosity measurement, Trimaster for extensional viscosity and filament break-up analyses, viscosimeters, densimeter, Keyence VHX-6000 electrical microscope, static surface tensiometer, dynamic surface tensiometer Krüss BP2, Dataphysics OCA 25, Krüss Mobile Drop for surface energy measurement, photospectrometer, four-point probe Ossila T2001A3, UVpad for UV spectrum measurement, and more.

R2R PILOT LINE

iPrint is equipped with a R2R inkjet pilot line, which allows for inkjet printing at high resolution and for high throughput combined with electron beam, UV or NIR curing. Our pilot line can handle speeds of up to 100 m/min and a web width of up to 400 mm.

A team of experts with a wealth of experience provides guidance on best practices to ensure that partners get the most out of the collaboration and explore all of the possibilities on offer.

Pre- and post-treatment lab

How do you determine which pre-treatment technology is best for your application? It begins with a proper definition of the application. An advantage of working with iPrint is our ability to test your application with an assortment of treatment technologies including air plasma, flame plasma, corona discharge and variable chemistry plasma on small to very small samples. Each of these technologies has benefits and practical considerations. iPrint offers lab scale testing possibilities, including cross-cut adhesion testing and theoretical optimization of relevant adhesion parameters like adhesion energy, interlayer tension, spreading factor and water resistance coefficient. iPrint also has a lab with most of the post-treatments used in inkjet, such as UV, NIR, oven, photonic curing (PulseForge), and electron beam, to name a few.

Drop watching

High-quality inkjet printing relies on the perfect interplay between printing parameters and ink rheology. Droptimize, iPrint’s spin-off, can help you reach this goal by analyzing the ink droplets jetted by the printhead and optimizing the printing parameters accordingly.
