iPrint is a research institute and competence center for digital printing and coating with a clear focus on inkjet technology. It is part of the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR), a member of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO). With a team more than 30 persons, iPrint offers applied research to national and international industry partners in applications where inkjet is involved such as: digital printing, printing for electronics, coating and additive manufacturing. iPrint is also the worldwide leader in practical inkjet training.

To support our research teams and to strengthen our technology transfer mission, we are seeking for an experienced inkjet printing setup & evaluation specialist.

Scope of Activities

On the one hand you serve as an operator for direct industry related print tests and studies. On the other hand, you are consulting, training and helping iPrint’s researchers to obtain high print quality results thanks to your industrial experience.

    • Perform routine printing and drop watching tasks related to industrial projects; reporting regarding the achieved results (40%)
    • Support internal research engineers on their daily problem solving in inkjet printing; advise research staff on inkjet print heads and industrial inkjet process related topics. Research in the lab (40%)
    • Support in infrastructure and laboratory management; support in platform design to specify proper process and components; commissioning of research platforms (20%)

Your profile

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent training (technician)/level of expertise considered
  • Extensive professional experience after obtaining a university degree
  • At least 5 years of operational & practical experience in industrial inkjet printing field
  • Proven experience in setup of printing system in a proper way, defining test parameters and procedures and their evaluation (quality)
  • Proven experience in systematic printing problem solving
  • Well-developed skills in dropwatching and waveform tuning is an advantage
  • You are a creative practical person, willing to do hands-on work
  • English proficiency is mandatory, German or French is an advantage

Additional information

  •  Fixed-term employment contract: 2 years, renewable
